Privacy explainer for parents and carers receiving an email notification about the HAF programme from Eequ

How Eequ collaborates with schools to notify eligible families about the HAF programme

Written by Ugne Petreikyte

Background

Your child's school works with your local council to run the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, which offers free holiday activities and meals to children who receive benefits-related free school meals. Bookings are handled through Eequ, the council's booking platform.

Why you receive an email from Eequ

When booking opens, your child's school securely shares a small amount of information with Eequ: your child's name, date of birth and free-school-meal status, and your name and email address.

How your details are used

Eequ uses this only to email you when booking opens, and possibly one reminder a week or so later.

  • Your details are not kept after the emails are sent.

  • They are not added to any mailing list and not used for advertising.

  • They are not passed to the council.

If you'd rather not receive these emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email.

If you decide to book

If you follow the link and book a place, your information is then handled under your council’s privacy notice for the HAF programme. You can find this linked in the checkout details and your council’s website.

If you don't book a session on the HAF programme, nothing further happens with your data.

Your rights and who to ask

You have rights over your personal data, including to access it or object to its use. To ask Eequ anything: privacy@eequ.org.
For the council, please find the correct contact details on your council’s Privacy Notice which can be found on their website.
