Disproportionate burden
Some images, provided by users of the platform, do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information represented by the image. An example of this is the photos or infographics provided by a Mentor on their listing page to illustrate their learning experience.
The Mentors on the Platform are independent traders who use Eequ to promote their Learning Experiences. The content of the Mentor Listing on the Platform is entirely the responsibility of the Mentor and the content is created and submitted by Mentors. As a result, we are not (and cannot reasonably be) responsible for obtaining alternative text for each photograph. The text content of the listing may also be of variable quality and may contain grammatical errors or spelling mistakes.
Images without text alternative fail WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
We have assessed the options for adding text to all images manually but believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/952/regulation/7/made) within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are reviewing the flow of navigation to further improve the logical progression of information.
We are incorporating a wider suite of tools into our accessibility testing and embedding this into our design process and testing protocols. We also welcome feedback from differently-abled users as a result of manual testing.

We tested a sample of pages that prioritise the most common usages of the platform and user experience such as landing pages, search pages, Organisation Pages, iFrames, Listing Pages and checkout pages. We chose these pages for their frequency of use as shown by Google Analytics.
